Jocelyne Prince
Slide Library (2002-present)
Installation
Glass, wood, light
Variable dimensions, 8 shelving units each 210x180x30cm
Slide Library is an ever-growing collection of glass panels with scars, cracks and other deformities caused by stressing the glass while still hot with various materials and processes, including: splashing with water; contact with liquid tin or various objects; and sound vibrations from the artist's family's LP collection. The stresses are applied to blown glass bubbles. When cooled, the scared glass is cut out and flattened. The complete installation includes eight large shelves and over 1000 glass panels. Light is used to make the stresses more visible.
