An 18-hour live window projection piece and an hour-long performance celebrates of the shortest day of the year. The window projections span the 18 hours of darkness, and the musical performance inside the gallery revels in the daily machinations of sunrises and sunsets enacted by live action projections in the gallery space.
The winter solstice marks an important turning point in the year, and despite the existence of various calendars this waning and cresting cycle of the sun expresses a rhythm that defines our understanding of time. This cadence of the sun is embodied in the sounds of percussionist of Owen Weaver, and in various projections of glowing heat that interrupt and underline the darkness of the day.
