During the process of making, while the glass is still molten, the bottom half of each sphere comes into contact with a surface that has been heated or cooled to a specific temperature. This exposure creates various chill pattern in the glass.
In the installation the shadow projection from each individual sphere reveals a distinct temperature “thumbprint” produced by the chill mark ripples that are embedded in the glass. The numbers inscribed on the spheres notes the surface contact temperature. The spheres and foamcore stacks form an idiosyncratic 3D visualization of temperature.
